Lessons / Teaching
In addition to actively performing and writing music, I am passionate about education and have been teaching percussion since 2019. I teach all ages of percussionists. As an educator, my goal is to prepare students with the proper skills and knowledge to feel confident and capable in their musicianship, and ready to approach the next step in their education and/or musical career. I aspire not only to teach proficiency in technical skills to help them navigate a successful career as a percussionist, but also to teach them how to continue to learn and improve on their own once they are no longer studying with me. I help students realize and implement the most effective strategies and methods for their own learning in order to manifest their goals and aspirations. I aim to help students truly understand why they make art, and equip them with the tools they need to do so as successfully and authentically as possible. You can view my full teaching statement here.
In addition to private lessons or classes, I also am available to work with full concert percussion sections and/or marching percussion sections.
Recording / Production / Live Sound
I also work independently as an audio engineer. I offer small-scale audio recordings (solo and chamber), music production services, and work in live sound as well.
For an example of my work as an electronic producer and recording / mixing engineer, check out my album, MIDDLES.
My experience as a live sound tech includes personal recitals, small festivals, working as a volunteer sound tech at the Ark in Ann Arbor, and co-producing the VIRID & Friends Concert Series.
Reach out if you’re interested in my sound services or if you’d like to discuss specific projects / rates!
